About the 2011 event...

Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area racquetball players and fans are excited to host to the kick-off event for the 2011-2012 WPRO season at the Landmark Fitness Club in North Dallas on August 26-28, 2011. Come watch and play as the best racquetball players in the world compete for $10,000 in prize money in the WPRO Pro Singles Division. This event is a WPRO Tier 1 Level Event and is fully sanctioned by the USRA/TXRA with both mens and womens singles and doubles amateur divisions offered. AMATEUR SINGLES AND DOUBLES DIVISIONS OFFERED FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN! The Texas Open will feature both singles and doubles divisions fully sanctioned by TXRA/USAR for Men AND Women. This IS NOT a PRO ONLY event or Women's Only event. All participants must have current USAR/TXRA memberships to participate in the tournament's amateur divisions. USAR memberships may be purchased or renewed during online registration for $50 for a full 1 year membership or $20 for a limited 1 event membership (good for only 1 tournament).

WPRO Pro Singles Entries: All players who wish to enter the WPRO pro singles division can enter the WPRO Pro singles division on the R2 site (Coming soon). Players should also notify the WPRO Commissioner, Gigi Rock, at wprocommissioner@wprotour.com directly no later than Friday, August 19, 2011. We encourage all pros to register online and notify the commissioner as soon as possible if they desire to participate in the tournament to secure their spot. Space is limited due to court and time restrictions at the host facility. All WPRO pro division entry fees are retained and collected by the WPRO. Pro division entry fees are $80 and includes WPRO dues ($10 per event unless Pro is already a full member of WPRO). Players may enter up to 2 events online including the WPRO Pro Singles division. If players would like to enter Mixed Pro/Open Doubles as their 3rd event they should contact the touranment director/s and they will be manually added to the division.

All entries must be received ONLINE and paid in full by Friday, August 19, 2011 by 10pm Central Time ---or--- when tournament reaches full capacity (~estimated at ~150-165 players, but actual number will vary based on how many people enter more than 1 event and # of WPRO Pros in attendance so register early to secure your spot).

Register online early to secure your spot. Tournament has reached full capacity 3 weeks in advance the last two years. So don't delay. Space will be limited due to court and time restrictions (1 facility - 6 total courts). The 2009 and 2010 Texas Open was full 3 weeks prior to the event.When the tournament reaches full capacity, online registration will be deactivated and we will start a waiting list. If you would like to add your name to the waiting list you may call or email the tournament director and we will take down your name, contact information and division/s that you would like to be entered into if a spot becomes available. There is no guarantee that we will be able to add anyone once the tournament capacity has been reached. To guarantee your spot in the event, please enter online early. If we are able to accommodate additional players due to no shows or withdrawals then the tournament director will contact you and add you to the entrants list.

START TIMES:
All amateur and WPRO pro's must be prepared to play as early as 9am on Friday, August 26, 2011. The WPRO round of 64 (if necessary) will begin at 9:00am on Friday. The WPRO Round of 32 will begin at 11:00am on Friday.

Requests for special starting times must be indicated on the entry form, however no guarantees can be made and no refunds may be given after the tournament registration deadline. So please make sure you available to begin playing by 9:00am Friday, August 26.

Tournament Start times will be available by Tuesday, August 23, 2011 by 6pm Central.

Pro/Am Doubles Event

2011 Pro/Am Sponsor Doubles Challenge/VIP Reception - Thursday, August 25, 2010 - 6:30pm-8:30pm - at the Landmark Fitness Club

8* of the tournament's top sponsors will have the opportunity to play doubles with a top WPRO pro in a round robin format event with 8 teams, 4 teams in each pool with the top team in each pool advancing to a championship game to determine the overall winner. The winner of the Pro/Am Doubles Challenge will receive a special custom designed "2011 Texas Open" skinned Ektelon EXO3 racquet courtesy of Ektelon and RacquetSkinz.

Pro/Am doubles participants and tournament sponsors will be provided with complimentary food and beverages Thursday evening. Free Viewing all weekend! Even if you are not playing in the doubles challenge, feel free to come out and watch the pro/am doubles event Thursday evening free of charge. Individual guest meal tickets will be available for purchase at the sponsor doubles challenge for Thursday nights meal including food and beverages for $5.00.

* Limited spots, based upon availability. Participation in the Pro/Am Doubles Challenge will be GUARANTEED for all Platinum, Gold & Silver Level Tournament Sponsors who would like to participate. Any spots not filled by Platinum, Gold & Silver Level Sponsors within two weeks of the event will be opened up to Bronze Level Sponsors with a minimum $300 Cash Donation.

WOMEN AND RACQUETBALL (W.A.R.) ICE CREAM SOCIAL

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 27 - APPROX 3PM DANCE ROOM ON MAIN LEVEL We will be hosting our 2nd Annual W.A.R. Ice Cream Social again this year providing free ice cream and sodas served in cool Texas Open W.A.R. souvenir cups that you can take home with you. The Ice Cream Social will be held immediately following the last WPRO Quarterfinal Match which should end around 3PM ish and will be held again in the Dance Room.
